Lumière et Son was a year long project by Sam Renseiw and Philip Sanderson in which Sam provided the Lumières (silent footage of usually no more than one minute in duration in the manner of the Lumière brothers one reel films) and Philip added the Son or sound mix using found recordings, snippets from film soundtracks etc. The project ran from November 2009 to November 2010. The posts are presented in the chronological order in which they were made - so oldest first.

Donald & Aitchison are a firm of opticians who have branches all over the UK. the voice over is a short extract from a record they used to give out to new employees in the 1970s. A lot of firms did this sort of thing - on the Table Matters EP by Storm Bugs for example there is a track called 'Make Customers Matter' which has some useful information by the head of WH Smith on how to make every branch "your favourite shop in the town". This was from a cassette I found in a store cupboard when working in a bookshop in 1979.
