Lumière et Son was a year long project by Sam Renseiw and Philip Sanderson in which Sam provided the Lumières (silent footage of usually no more than one minute in duration in the manner of the Lumière brothers one reel films) and Philip added the Son or sound mix using found recordings, snippets from film soundtracks etc. The project ran from November 2009 to November 2010. The posts are presented in the chronological order in which they were made - so oldest first.

Ah well I couldn't change that part of John Berger's original voice over to Ways of Seeing.
ReplyDeleteThe painting enlightening the lumiere is "The Ferry Boat to Antwerp", a large canvas measuring 279.5 by 467 cm, circa 1623 by the Flemish Baroque Era master Jacob Jordaens, undergoing extensive restoration at SMK, Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen.
